Making a difference in the 31st District!

Mike Crawford was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in November 2024 and began serving in the 104th General Assembly in January 2025. He proudly represents the 31st District and is focused on advancing policies that strengthen economic mobility, expand access to homeownership, and ensure equitable investment in education, human rights, and community infrastructure.

A product of Chicago’s public schools, Representative Crawford is a graduate of Lane Tech College Prep. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Operations and Information Management and a Master of Science in Adult and Higher Education from Northern Illinois University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Saint Xavier University and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Concordia University Chicago.

Before joining the General Assembly, Representative Crawford built a career in executive leadership within higher education, where he led institutional growth initiatives, strengthened community partnerships, and advanced workforce and student success strategies. His background in operations, finance, and organizational leadership informs his legislative approach is grounded in data, equity, and long-term structural impact.

In the Illinois House, Representative Crawford works to align state investment with measurable outcomes, focusing on:

  • Expanding access to affordable homeownership and wealth-building opportunities

  • Advancing evidence-based funding for public education

  • Supporting small business development and neighborhood revitalization

  • Strengthening community infrastructure and public safety

  • Promoting policies that close opportunity gaps across Illinois

Representative Crawford resides in Chicago with his family and remains actively engaged in civic and community initiatives throughout the district.
